WHICH IS?
Sudden sweat rash located on the hands, most often, and on the feet. It is characterized by numerous vesicles (small liquid collections on the skin) that resemble sago grains, which is due to sweat infiltration between skin cells. The vesicles can group together to form larger bubbles. Dyshidrosis almost involutes in one to three weeks, but it can become chronic. Dyshidrosis predominates in the age group between 20 and 40 years of age and affects both sexes. It is more common in the hot months and is often associated with hyperhidrosis. Emotional factors can aggravate it or even trigger it. There are other dyshydrosiform rashes on the hands that are unrelated to sweating. The cause is diverse, and may be of exogenous origin (external or contact factors) or endogenous origin (internal factors of the individual). In the first, we will have contact dermatitis for primary irritant, allergic contact dermatitis, ingested or inhaled allergens, essentially fungal infections and pharmacodermies for penicillin, piroxicam and intravenous immunoglobulin. When nature is endogenous, there is a diagnostic possibility of psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and other cases of dermatitis or more rare eczema, of unknown origin. There is a clear predominance of cases of dysidrosiform rash in women.
SYMPTOMS
The clinical picture is generally characterized by symmetrical and bilateral involvement, more frequently in the hands than in the feet. In the acute phase, the vesicles have a colorless liquid content and are located, preferably, on the lateral and dorsal surfaces of the fingers. They can be more or less painful, especially when they are infected with bacteria. Itching is almost always present and can be painful, being relieved with decompression of vesicles or blisters by perforation or incision. When there is a lesion in the plantar region, the mycological examination to search for fungal origin is necessary. The clinical picture can become chronic with flaking, increased skin thickness and fissures in the palmar or plantar region, preventing professional activities.
